Founder and Senior Consultant

Hi, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Summer Hartman. I’ve been married 20 years to my husband Miles Hartman. We have 2 teenagers Ethan and Sophia.

I started out working as a nanny for a high profile lawyer in the White House in 1996. My love for children and babies started way before this time though. Let’s go back a little further. Starting with my obsession with babies.

My little brother was born in 1985 I was 8 years old. My mom thought she was sick, never thought she could be pregnant but about 12 weeks ended up in the hospital with a blood clot in her leg, this is when she found out she was pregnant. Great news and not such great news due to her body’s reaction.

You have to imagine as little kids, my sister and I were super scared. Over the next 7 months, my sister and I lived with friends and family while my parents were in and out of the hospital. Looking back on the stress our whole family went through it’s amazing we came out sane. My brother was born July 27th, 1985 in Loma Linda, California.

On this day my mom also had a heart attack during labor and my brother stopped breathing! The amazing thing is both made it home alive! About 10 days later my parents and brother were home. This is when he became my personal doll!! Daniel to this day hates me for dressing him up!

I started babysitting my neighbors 3-month-old and 2-year old I was 11 years old. I babysat for this family until I was 18 years old. They weren’t my only children I helped raise, about 20 families I would sit for after school or weekends all through my teen years.

When I was 15 years old I was staying weekends while parents went on mini weekend getaways. I had a 4-months-old and 5-year old that weekend. The point is I’ve never stopped taking care of babies and children from 8 years old.

With all this experience I was recruited to nanny as soon as I was done with high school for my high profile family and moved to Washington D.C. in 1996.

Come forward a few more years I married my husband Miles and had my own children at 22 years old and 24 years old. My whole life has revolved around caring for all ages. While I was pregnant I nannied twins boy and girl 9 years old. The daughter had cerebral palsy this was a little more challenging being pregnant but so worth it. Loved taking care of her and teaching her brother to be a helper.

Once my babies arrived we decided to be foster parents. We had our children who were 3 years and 4 years old at the time. We had 5 babies who were included in our family 2 months to 3 years old over 3 years that we loved and cared for until their parents could get them back. I have never regretted opening my house to those little ones.

Moving forward and my husband who has muscular dystrophy couldn’t handle the snow in Ohio so we moved our family of 4 to Phoenix, Arizona. This is where I became a newborn care specialist and over time a sleep consultant. For 13 years I have helped over 1000’s of families here in the U.S. and abroad. Some with overnight support and others consultations in-home and virtual.

Over 2 years ago I decided to write a book that had all my knowledge and could teach other newborn care specialist, nannies, doulas, and sleep consultants. It’s a book full of heart and how best to respect sleep along with how to best support parents.

Starting the end of December 2018 I have started writing my next book on the science of sleep newborn to adult!! This is my passion as you have read and will continue to be my passion.

My goal is to support your family to the best of my ability and to bring the thousands of hours and years of knowledge and bring peace to you and your family Oh, and Sleep!!
